Meet Our Doctors

Andrea M. Eigenberg, OD 

Dr. Eigenberg is a native of Hastings and is excited to return to her home town to practice optometry.  After graduating from Hasings High School, she received a bachelors degree in Biopsychology from Nebraska Wesleyan. Dr. Eigenberg then graduated with honors from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago with special interest in contact lenses and eye disease. In addition to primary care training at the Illinois Eye Institute, she also studied at the Black Hills VA Health center as well as the Victorian College of Optometry, in Carlton, Australia.

Dr. Eigenberg  enjoys working with patients of all ages. Her interests range from helping preschool children develop the skills they will need in school to working with adults that have lost eyesight due to disease.  For patients with macular degeneration she performs special  Low Vision evaluations. Dr. Eigenberg also has special expertise in fitting complex contact lens patients, such as patients with high astigmatism, bifocal wearers, or keratoconus.

Nathan A. Bolen, OD

After graduating from Kearney High School, Dr. Bolen received his bachelors degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.  He then graduated from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee where he was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society.  Following graduation, Dr. Bolen completed a Primary Care Residency at the Memphis VA Medical Center and practiced for one year in Memphis before returning to Central Nebraska.  Dr. Bolen practiced for many years in Hastings before joining Drs. Nicholson and Eigenberg to form Advanced Eye Care in 2013.

Dr. Bolen currently practices full scope optometry, seeing patients of all ages with an emphasis in managing eye diseases.  From managing glaucoma and monitoring macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease to treating Dry Eye Syndrome, Dr. Bolen is accepting new patients and is ready to help you.

Michaela J. Sasse, OD

Dr. Michaela Sasse grew up on a farm near Gaylord, Kansas. She completed her undergraduate studies at Fort Hays State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. While at FHSU, Dr. Sasse was recognized as an outstanding senior when she was named a Torch Award finalist. She obtained her doctorate from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and was named to the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society. She was awarded the COVD Award for Excellence in Vision Therapy in recognition of her strong clinical skills in vision therapy. She was also selected as a member of the Gold Key International Honor Society, a membership designation based upon leadership, scholarship, and value to the class, college, and profession of optometry.

Dr. Sasse is an active member of the Nebraska Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. She currently serves as Treasurer for the Executive Board of the TeamMates Mentoring Program of Hastings, and she participates in ministry efforts at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. She enjoys providing comprehensive eye care, and especially has a passion for working with children. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, watching sports, and spending time with friends and family.
